We checked in with one of our more recent partners-in-grind, Jordan, founder of Lounge Aesthetics to see how her growth journey is going. She connected with Zoek to design a website for her Boston-based medspa, where she specializes in affordable skincare and natural beauty results. Her social media presence is decidedly pink, and she needed a website to match her naturally-bubbly personality.
Jordan’s background in nursing makes her a compassionate business owner, passionate about educating her clientele as she did with her patient families when she worked in the ICU (intensive care unit). We chatted about her business philosophy of going against market trends to set prices, what she loves most about Boston, and what exactly is “Baby Botox.”

How did you hear about Zoek?
Through Wix. So I heard from a bunch of different people that the best website to kind of get started, if you don’t really know what you’re doing, is Wix. So, I did all the things through Wix and purchased all of their packages or whatever and just had a really hard time figuring out how to design a website on my own – ‘cause I’m just not very tech savvy – and there was an option on the Wix website to have a website designer.
Perfect. Yeah, we’re actually the #1 Partner Agency at Wix, so I’m happy that you found us. That’s exactly what we want to do – support you in your design needs, so you can focus on your business.
Yeah!
What inspired you to get into the aesthetics industry?
That’s a good question. I’ve always been into that type of stuff. I feel like the biggest thing that got me into it is, I can’t stand when people gate keep things. Like if you ask someone, ‘Wow, that’s a cute dress, where’d you get it?” And they’re like, “Oh, I can’t remember,” and I’m like, “Oh, I can look at your tag,” and they’re like, “No…” I hate that. I feel like girls should help girls feel more confident and feel beautiful.
I worked in the ICU for several years as a nurse and I loved the education aspect of it. Whenever my patients’ family members would come in – obviously that’s like a very scary time when their family member is in the ICU and unwell and you don’t know what’s going on or what’s going to happen – and I love just kind of taking my time and educating the family members and deeply understanding the body, so I can break it down for them in a way that makes sense.
[Aesthetics] it kind of combines those two things of loving to educate people as well as not gatekeeping, which I guess kind of all falls into the same category as educating … I kind of just got interest and entrance into the medical aesthetics world, when I moved to Boston as a travel nurse. I added myself to some local Boston Facebook pages to make some friends and a nurse injector at a nearby medspa messaged me on Instagram and asked if I wanted a job. It was just kind of random, I never really kind of thought of specifically going into medical aesthetics but it did kind of encompass everything that I was interested in and it was kind of time to make my way out of the ICU after doing that through COVID.
We love that you’re a girls’ girl. We’re definitely girls’ girls over here on the marketing team.
Yeah, why not be? I just don’t understand, why you wouldn’t be a girls’ girl? If you’re happy and confident with yourself, why wouldn’t you want to share that with other people?
Omg, Jordan. Exactly. Exactly. What do you love about Boston?
Oh, that’s another good question. I grew up in the South Coast of Boston, so this is kind of home for me... I love how small it is. I can walk outside and walk to the coffee shop, like one step away, and I’ll see three people I know. It’s just kind of a nice, small, community. Almost kind of in a good way, it feels like high school or college, where you just have so many nearby friends and like other people just trying to support you. I just feel like in other cities, it’s a little too big to feel as connected to the community, whereas here it’s a lot easier.
When did you start Lounge Aesthetics?
In April, just a couple months ago.
Oh! Welcome, baby! So what are your website goals, your business goals?
That's a great question too. With me having gone to nursing school and being a nurse at the heart of everything I want to do is helping people. It’s an interesting balance between that and now being this new business owner, where I should be trying to grow a business. But growing a business means making more money, making more money means taking more money from people, and that part has been hard for me to balance…
I’m kind of very specific with the type of clientele I like, all of my clients have come from word-of-mouth referrals, they’re all kind of like us, girls’ girls, really chill, they just want to feel like their best self. I have a really good group of clients, so I kind of try to keep it kind of, not small, but I don’t have the business goal to have five locations and then be bringing in millions of dollars. That’s not what I’m really in this for, I just like what I do.
So as a business just servicing more people, my priority is keeping my prices as affordable as possible. I’ve always heard from other business people, “Why do you price this laser treatment at $750 if everyone else prices it at $1600? It’s gonna take you two or three people to make the same money as everyone else!” And I don’t really care. I would rather service more people and have more people be happy with their skin and their aesthetic outcome than profiting $1000 off one person. That doesn’t feel good to me. I’m just looking to like service more people, spread the love.
We love love. That’s Zoek’s approach too. We want to give small businesses the big business competitive edge, but in order to do that, we have to keep our prices affordable. By the way, what’s Baby Botox?
Baby Botox, it can kind of be seen as multiple different things but when I say, “Baby Botox,” I just mean small doses of Botox. Typically, if it’s someone’s first time doing Botox, I specifically recommend doing a small dose just so you can get your feet wet and you don’t feel like you’re looking too different… and because Botox is priced per unit, the less units, the less it costs too.
So that way it’s not like a big $500 treatment right up in your face and you're getting frozen and then you’re like, “Wow that was expensive and it made me look different.” So it’s kind of a win-win doing Baby Botox.
Nice! One thing we do at our Zoek Marketing Department meetings is “Wins of the Week,” one personal and one professional. What are your wins this week?
Oh, cute! Personal win, let me think. I don’t know if this counts but it would be just getting back into a regular routine. I went on a couple of trips lately and I've just been tired, sleeping in, and not being like my best self. So I’m getting back into the routine of getting up earlier, being productive, going to the gym, kind of feeling better from that perspective.
Business win, I’m not sure if this really counts either but I just kind of redid a corner of the office to be like a little filming space for the business… It’s a cute little pink filming area that I think would be really nice for social media to add some brading to it.
Those are great wins, Jordan. We’re so excited for you, and yes, that’ll match perfect with your branding.
Thank you!
